Item Prefixes & Bonuses

In this guide I will be covering how item bonuses and prefixes work with equips in Rusty Hearts. Item bonuses are determined by several factors, including:

  • The category of the equip
  • The subcategory of the equip
  • The number of options an item can have
  • The rarity of the item
  • The prefix given to the item
  • Random chance

Let's use Arcane Chain Mail as an example. As stated in the tooltip, it can have at minimum 2 additional options and at maximum 3 additional options. Here are the possible prefixes and options the Arcane Chain Mail can have:

  • Hardy - HP +%
  • Sentient - MP +%
  • Reckless - Critical Power
  • Guardian's - Critical Resistance
  • Soldier's - Physical Damage +
  • Witch's - Magic Damage +
  • Royal - Absorb Physical Damage
  • Goddess' - Absorb Magic Damage

So, because the Arcane Chain Mail can have 2 - 3 item options, it will select 2 - 3 bonuses at random from this list. Let's say Rusty Hearts chooses HP +%, MP +%, and Critical Power.

  • Hardy - HP +2.05 - 2.73%
  • Sentient - MP +2.05 - 2.73%
  • Reckless - Critical Power +3.60 - 4.78%

Please note that the stats shown in the list above do not follow any sort of easily calcuable formula. It's entirely dependent upon lookup tables.

Rusty Hearts now selects a prefix from the list of chosen bonuses. The prefix it selects is important. The stat associated with the chosen prefix receives a boost. For example, "Hardy Arcane Chain Mail" would have an HP boost of 2.73 - 3.00%, or "Reckless Arcane Chain Mail" would have a Critical Power of 4.78 - 5.74%. The prefixed stat will always have a better bonus than a non-prefixed stat. So, it's important to look at the prefix just as much as the item bonuses if you're looking to maximize a particular stat!

This concludes the tutorial. I hope this clears up any confusion regarding how item options function in Rusty Hearts.
